BARREL ROOFS

LODO BARREL ROOF

INSULATION PRIOR TO COATING
FLUID APPLIED INSULATED ROOFING IS IDEAL FOR WATERPROOFING AND INSULATING BARREL ROOFS
BACKGROUND
Barrel roofs are difficult to waterproof and often are poorly insulated.

In our region, the traditional approach to roofing this type of structure has been to use rolled roofing or a monolithic multiply system with aluminium coating. These are fairly effective on the sides and top but it is difficult to incorporate insulation into the roofing system due to the uniform curvature of the roof. It is also difficult to make the roofing materials confirm to the odd curvature of the ends, transistions at brick parapets, and the spans in the valleys leading to leaks at these transition points.

Wind damage can also be a significant factor on this type of structure due to the shape of the roof and subsequent wind uplift.

Shingles are generally ineffective on this type of structure due to the steep sides transitioning into a flat portion on top.

SOLUTION
Fluid Applied Insulated Roofing is spray applied and conforms to the unusual shapes and transitions of a barrel roof. The system provides a monolithic sheet of insulation and waterproofing which conforms to the curvature of the structure. The polyurethane insulation and coating are fluid applied and are fully adhered to the surface to provide excellent insulation, great waterproofing and unequaled wind uplift resistance.

The Roofing System provides smooth transitions at parapet walls and offers about R 6.5 to R 10 of insulation depending upon thickness.

TYPICAL INSTALLED COST $2.25 TO $3.50 /SQ FT
