BACKGROUND
Southwestern style homes and adobe structures usually have flat roofs, stucco, or adobe parapets and through wall penetrations such as peeled logs or drain scuppers. These offer difficult waterproofing challenges, especially cracked stucco on parapets.
On older structures, insulation is often a problem and they often cannot be insulated with conventional insulation techniques.
SOLUTION
Southwestern style homes and adobe structures have been roofed and insulated with sprayed foam roofing and insulation systems for over 30 years with a process that originated in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The foam is either coated or gravel surfaced to blend in with the environment.
The system is very effective in sealing stucco parapets and the through wall penetrations such as peeled logs. Most of these structures have low slope roofs which can be managed with this roofing system.
The system provides R 6.7 to R 30 depending upon the thickness of the insulation.
The system can be used in new construction or on older leaking roofs and has become a standard for this type of construction.
TYPICAL INSTALLED COST $2.00 TO $3.00 /SQ FT
